West Texas Terrace

To carry the idea of "The West Texas Walk of Fame" one step further, Civic Lubbock Inc envisioned a tribute area that would recognize citizens of the Lubbock region who have devoted a significant part of their lives to the development, promotion or production of regional art, music or entertainment. The Terrace has raised seating and is located just west of the Buddy Holly statue. On September 28, 1995, the Mayor signed a resolution, which would rename the area known as the Memorial Civic Center Entrance Plaza to the Buddy Holly Plaza. The Terrace was formally dedicated during induction ceremonies in May of 1996.
